METRANS Railprofi Austria GmbH is the Austrian railway company of the METRANS Group
As one of the market leaders in intermodal transport, METRANS ensures seamless connections across Europe. Our shuttle trains link major seaports on the North Sea and the Adriatic with inland terminals, while also providing reliable transport to and from the Silk Road. With a network of 20 intermodal terminals and more than 650 weekly train connections, we bring global supply chains closer together.
From standard containers to reefers, tanks, bulk or special units like trailers or swap bodies – once cargo is in the container, or any other unit, our experts make sure it reaches its destination safely and efficiently.

SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is a central part of the METRANS philosophy. By shifting cargo from road to rail, we actively reduce environmental impact: each train can replace up to 50 truck journeys.
- Rail for the long distance: Our electric locomotives use energy recovery systems, while our hybrid shunting locomotives cut emissions by up to 50% compared to conventional diesel.
- Trucks for the last mile: We use road transport only where it is most efficient – for local delivery. More than 80% of our long-term partners operate vehicles that meet EURO6, EURO5, or EEV emission standards.
- Smart container handling: With the principle “think outside the box – stay inside the container”, we minimize unnecessary transshipment, protect cargo integrity, and support faster, greener transport.
